Poetry and Writing Workshops

Engaging and interactive workshops that explores the world around us through different aspects and genres of poetry and writing.

 

Examples of lessons we've done:

-Slam poetry readings

-Environmental poetry

-Mock elections (persuasive speeches)

-Haikus

-Poetry jigsaw

Where: Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lowell

When: 4:30 PM to 6 PM Biweekly on Wednesdays

STEM Lessons

Interactive lessons on the basics of math and science that prepare elementary schoolers for middle school academic success.

Examples of lessons we've done:

-Math Jeopardy!

-Mock elections (percentages and fractions)

-PEMDAS basketball game

-Blackjack (probability)

-Chess

Writing Workshops & STEM Lessons for K-5

Rotation between creative writing workshops and STEM lessons for elementary students. Partners with YWCA Northeastern Massachusetts to offer all-girls sessions.

Who: Grade K through 5

Where: Lawrence Public Library

When: 4 PM to 5 PM one Wednesday Each Month (For specific dates, please visit the Lawrence Public Library website's calendar!)

PEMDAS Jeopardy!

An entertaining lesson that teaches the basics of PEMDAS and implements it in a Jeopardy style math game with prizes.

An interactive workshop in a small classroom setting, where kids learn to read by rearranging lines of famous poems.
